The first dentist visit should take place about 2-ish and then every 6 months after that. You don't want your kid to start getting a rotten tooth without you knowing about it! That's what dentists are so good for. Hopefully you find some good ones in your area!

I think the first dentist should be just after your child's third birthday. It is good to get them in the habit of going to the dentist and at the very least letting them know there is nothing to be scared of with dental procedures. Here's a good dentist in the Salt Lake City area to go for you little one's first visit, http://www.dentalprosutah.com/dental/

Age 2-ish

For both our kids, we brought them to our adult check-ups to get them used to the process, starting at age two years. As soon as they turned 3 years old, they started on their own 6 month schedules. It was never any problem. They are comfortable there and actually get excited about going. AND...they both have terrificly clean teeth and good dental habits!

just getting them used to visiting dentist

Hi,
I feel that if you need to get your kid to visit a dentist, the primary reason should be getting the child used to the idea of visiting one.
This will help your child feel more at ease when he needs to visit one in the future.

The first two years, in my opinion, probably is not that critical when it comes to visiting a dentist. I know dentist themselves may disagree but this is my opinion.

Visit a dentist soon
by: Jean Morgan

My kid had her first tooth when she was about 7 months. I did not brought her to a dentist though. But a dentist friend of mine told me that its advisable to visit once the child grows his/her first tooth because you'll want to know if its healthy or not.

My child is now three years old and i still have not bring her to a dentist yet. :( yaya....i guess i am held responsible now. Her teeth are now a bit wider at the bottom. Perhaps i will bring her to a dentist soon....
