what would be the best way to be re-aquainted with my 8 year old son who i have not seen in 5 years

the way this all began is when my son was 2 I messed up and turned into a meth addict and just gave up on all my responsibilities, I quit going to see him and or picking him up, since then ive been in and out of prison , I got out of prison this time 7 months ago and did 2 years in there this time, so ive now been sober for 2 years 7 months, 3 years ago my sons mother started dating this guy and dated him for 2and a half years so my son looks at him like he is his father, i mean the guy still picks him up for boy scouts and baseball etc.etc.Now im not trying to take this guy out of my sons life after all hes done for him, but its time for me to be re- equainted with my son. So now me and my sons mother just really dont know how to get me back in his life with out screwing with his head. Does anyone have any helpful ideas, would be much appreciated

Leave your child alone! You have NO right to reenter his life now. You CHOSE to take drugs rather than see your child. You are only going to cause the child heart ache :-( He has a mum and a step dad who clearly still loves the child. If the child is healthy and happy and well adjusted leave him be
