I have a 6 year old son who was diagnosed with ADHA last June and has been on medication since then. I will say that the medication has helped tremendously in his school work as he was behind but is now catching up quite nicely. My concern is that he just seems to act so spiteful and mean sometimes. When I am punishing him or yelling, he gets this evil smile on his face like he finds it hysterical and doesn't seem to give the right facial or behavioral responses that would seem appropriate for the situation. I have looked up many things on Autism, etc but he doesn't fit any of the other symptoms. I also have a 5 year old boy who is also diagnosed ADHD (it runs rampant in the family) but he is so much more even tempered and always shows the normal responses to a given situation....I have a dr's appt. on Monday with his pediatrician but I wanted some advise from other's who may have had or have the same experience that I am dealing with.
