My 6 year old daughter is constantly having defiant behavior at school. Academically, she is at the top of her class. She can read chapter books and can even do a little multiplication. She is not your textbook ADD child. She is not hyper, although she is impulsive. She is social and understands right from wrong. She is very easy to anger and has frequent outbursts at school. She is always exhausted in the afternoon, and that is when the problems usually occur. Last year, she had several transitions(switching schools)so we wanted to give her a chance to adapt. Here we are again..new year with the same issues. I don't know if I have a stubborn and strong-willed child or is this ADD? Also, I should mention that she has intense focus. The reason the social worker suggested ADD was because she can't pull her focus. Does anyone have a child like mine because, so far, I have not found her traits in any textbook. Appreciate any help.
i hear you too but my daughter is 4 1/2 acting like this . I am scared for when she goes to school.

my daughter is the similar by: jade
my 6year old daughter is similar except she isnt naughty but she doesnt want to be at school and always finds a way to get sent home, genraly headaches . She wants to sleep alot and has 14 hours sleep everynight without waking. she is very intelligant but constintly putting herself down. Im always trying new things to boost her confidence but nothing seems to be working. I have some times thought that she has abit of ocd, she changes the thing that causes me to think that about every month or 2. last month it was she refused to wear long sleave tops, month before that it was somethink to do with her tooth brush, then her hair, always differnt pieces of clotheing. Im struggeling and just really want her to be happy most of all, and be able to play with other children without worring, any suggestions?

Alternative diagnosis by: Anonymous
Have you researched, I think it was called, Oppositional/Defiant disorder? It seems like it might fit the scenario. Hope this helps.
