pls pls help me as my son weighs 25kg and his height is 103 cms at the age 2years 8 months.i gave him formul;a so within 3 months he gaines 6kgs now i have stopped and he is drinking low fat milk.He eats very less and hardly eats veggies.

He drinks 32oz milk ,2 bowls yougurt,4-5 orages,banana,grapes 1cup.he eats raw chapati 2 nos a day.this is his full routine.sometimes he eats baby biscuits.he drinks fresh juice once a day.i gave him once in a week threptin biscuit too in veggies he onluy eats okra.is it a right diet will he grow in height.is there anything which will again gain him weight.

pls tell me what should i do to gain height and weight should be less or constant.he plays ball,rides cycle,jumps and dance whole day.

pls pls help me will he reduce weight or he will be always like this.peoaple start calling him motu then tears coimes in my eyaes as i am responsible for him .will he grow taller by eating all thses foods.he is fond of rice but i stopped giving him .

pls pls advice me what should i do will he be anytime slim or no?

Prader-Willi Syndrome

Take him to the doctor to be checked for Prader Willi Syndrome. A simple blood test will tell you if he has it or not. That's a genetic disorder and he will need special attention.

Avoid sugary drinks and more fruit juices

Young kids should never be put on a diet, because they're likely to miss out on nutrients that help their bodies grow! Try to keep him on an active lifestyles...running, jumping,....etc...

But for kids after 2 years old, you can try to switch to skim Milk. One cup of whole milk has 150 calories and 8 fat grams vs. 90 calories and 0 fat grams for a cup of skim. Also, ensure daily vegetable & fruits intake to help in digestion.

I would recommend that if he is taking any artificial sugary drinks, you should replace them with fruit juice instead.

Try brown rice and more outdoor activities

I can feel your sadness when your child is being mocked at by other people. Reading your desciption, he should be in the 99 percentile his age.

You've mentioned that you've stopped giving him rice. Have you tried brown rice instead of white rice? Brown rice is basically complex carbohydrates as compared to white rice which is simple carbo. The difference is that brown rice tends to make him feel more full and thus may keep him from being hungry easily. In this case, he may not be eating that often.

Its also very important to exercise. Perhaps he can do some morning walk together with yourself. Maybe cycling or something that can cause him to perspire.

I sense that perhaps you are overly worried. I;ve know many parents with obese kids but once the kids grow up, their weight somehow normalized. Young kids have growth spurts and it may not be long before he grows taller and slimmer.

Perhaps you may want to help your child feel loved even if he is being called names by other people. A child's self esteem is more important.
