our son recently turned 9yrs. he has always been considered the tallest and biggest in his class. he was never obese, according the his pediatrician and medical guidelines etc. he is involved in baseball, basketball, full-tackle football and has been for years now. my concern is this: my husband is not happy with his weight...and he doesn't try to hide that disdain from our son. i am so worried about negative repercussions. i am also very concerned about my child's health, future health and his feelings regarding his image/health and father. this post comes in desperation as i completed a conversation with my husband this evening regarding the grocery items i just bought yesterday. i was questioning where all the fresh fruit (namely pears) went?! apparently our son ate them all?!? now, this was not one or even three pears in less than 24hrs. nor was this his only intake of food...i cook all his meals daily because we both have Gluten and Dairy allergies and are unable to eat most "mainstream" meals. the point being, my husband yelled at our son about eating all the fruit and eating without asking permission first and told our son that he will be spanked the next time he puts so much as a popcorn kernel in his mouth without permission first. help. surely spanking is not the answer to concerns of childhood obesity.
