In the middle of the night, if your child is snoring, most of us will ignore it and go back to sleep. But a new study from the University of Melbourne reports that snoring can cause the same harm in children as sleep apnea. It can impact the heart, as well as behavior and academic performance.

New study on sleep disorders in young children
My daughter was diagnose with a co arctation of the aorta in march 2008. she should have been diagnosed 2 years earlier but she was refused test by her then doctor who said all babies have heart murmers. She had her surgery but due to the delay in treatment she is now on potent meds to keep her blood pressure down and from going into congestive heart failure. She is now going for a sleep study in july because she snores so badly. She also wakes up during the night thinking it is morning. My advice to you is if you feel something is wrong with your child do not give up. Fight for the test, get a new doctor, call your insurance company. do whatever it takes. If I had listened to that doctor my cardiologist said that my daughter would have been dead by now. She has delays in almost every aspect of life due to her condition and lack proper diagnoses, but we are getting past that.
