My abusive husband and I have split- my 15 year old is angry

I left a very abusive situation and felt my only option was to leave our family home and move out of state back to where my family lives. My son who is 15 has not only lost his home, his friends, his school and his routine. I feel like leaving was my only option because I had him arrested for domestic assault. Now I fear retaliation from my husband financially. He thinks everything is his. I have our son but he is very quiet depressed and withdrawn I feel bad for him but am still trying to make our life stressfree. Any suggestions from someone who has been there? I know there is light at the end of the tunnel but Geez- right now it seems like I will never get justice. It would be nice to get that check for all the years I took abuse.

Danielle, I feel you did the only thing a reasonable person should do, by leaving the scene of this misery. Naturally there will be those who say that things might have improved over time. But on the balance of probabilities things never improve but only will get worse with domestic violence of an aggravated variety. There are always victims apart from yourself in situations like that-and your 15 year old son has it not easy. But if he stands with, you hopefully then he realises that you had no options, but to leave. Also at that age boys are very adaptable and able to make new friends etc. Naturally there will be those who say that things might have improved over time. But on the balance of probabilities things never improve but only will get worse. Promptly get legal aid and advise so that that financially this situation can be sorted out to finalisation speedily. Just a word of further advise, at times violent husbands when they see what is at stake promise to behave and beg for another chance; be very wise here in what you do and don’t end up in a worse position then you are now.
