When my oldest daughter was pregnant with their first born my son in law decided that since he was going to be sharing the responsiblity of raising a child that he needed to make some things easier for him since he was going to be a new father to a daughter. One of the things that he needed to make easier was bath time. He just could not figure out what he would call her private part when she was 2 or 3 years old and would have to help wash her. He came up with lovely name "lilly". Lilly worked fine for many years especially when they were blessed with another beautiful little girl a few years down the road. I as their grandmother would even use the name Lilly. Then as time passed and the girls started pre-school, they found that they both had a few new friends with the name Lilly. One night on the drive home from swimming lessons they asked their Mom, "Mommy why would anyone name their little girl Lilly when we all know that this is a body part. My daughter in shock with this question decided it was time to be honest with the girls and told them that sometimes Mommy's and Daddy's give different names to the private parts of children and she proceeded to tell them the real name. They proceeded to break out in laughter and tell their mom "Mommy it is not a Regina" and my older granddaughter corrected my younger granddaughter and said "Mommy did not say Regina, she said Virginia." They told their Mommy that she was silly because she knew that it was a Lilly. The innocence of a child.
