In 2002 I was active duty military and my 2 1/2 year old daughter and 8 month old son were staying with my parents while I was deployed. My daughter was potty-training and my mom was having a hard time with her, but her daycare was working well with her so she trained mostly during the day. One morning, my mom got a call at her job asking her to come and check my daughter our because she was saying "I have a bug in my tootie!" while she was using the restroom. My mom, immediately thinking the worst, left work and went to the daycare to check her out. The caregivers were afraid that it may have been worms and this statement infuriated, as well as embarrassed, my mom. She took my daughter into the bathroom and asked her to show her what she was talking about. All the while, my daughter was so excited to show her the bug...exclaiming "It's a butterfly mammaw!" My mom looked and it was toilet paper...with four wings spread like a butterfly that was stuck in her little girl area! Ever since then, I've collected butterflies as my favorite animal!
