My son is 11 and autistic. He plays a very sweet kissing game with me where he kisses my cheek and we laugh so it goes round and round until i say, okay all done. I hug him and tell him we are all finished. My husband, his step dad says it is totally inapporpriate and I think it is playful and healthy. Can i get your your opinions?

It's always on the cheek and I only let it go on for a minute then I tell him time to stop- he thinks it's funny because it makes me laugh
He is very autistic and this is how he plays sometimes- he only does it with me.

depending on his place on the spectrum simply stopping the game can actually cause much grief to him if he is on the higher end of the scale
speak to a independant counsiller who deals with the spectrum on a dailly order and get their opinion
if the counciller, you , and your partner dont see a problem tell your new hsband to get over himself

i don't know about your son but i had a bad experience of kissing my mum up to the age of 8. i felt awkward- he is my mum? i thought. and my blood related dad used to get jealous about it. sorry to say this but i think it is time to stop. he is 11. though he has autism, pardon me, but i am sure he too has feeling. he will soon grow old and, in my opinion, he will feel weird about it. worst of all he will feel traumatized like i had before. -i wish you all the best.

It is age inappropriate by: Tim
Sorry that you son has autism but it is not an excuse to play a kissing game with an 11 year old boy. At that age it is no longer a sweet kissing game, it is inappropriate. Autism or no autism, it is his age which makes it inappropriate.

On the cheek? Just you and your husband and family members, not random strangers on the street (lol)? Bah, that's normal and very sweet, you're just fine. :)
