We were very excited about preparing our five year old daughter Abby for starting Kindergarten this fall. We talked a lot about how exciting it would be and how she would probably learn how to read this year. After her first day, we received an e-mail from her new teacher telling us that towards the end of the day she was reviewing the daily schedule with the kids and mentioned that their time at school was almost over for the day. Upon hearing this, Abby looked at her teacher stunned and exclaimed "What? It's almost the end of the day already? But we haven't learned how to read yet!"
