taking bottle from 3 year old daughter by: Anonymous
My 3 year old was nursed until she was 2 so I supplemented the weaning process with a bottle. I took her last bottle away today and told her the bottle fairy god mother took it. She takes naps with her bottle and goes to sleep with it. She was so upset that I let her go to sleep with a sippie cup, I feel like I'm defeating the purpose of taking it in the first place, what should I do?

bottle weaning by: newfie22hb
If you figure it out please let me know, as I am having the exact same problem. My three year old will drink everything from a cup, sippy cup, or with straw but not his milk. He won't drink milk if he doesn't have it in a bottle. I've tried cold turkey but he went on strike for seven days without drinking milk, although I would give it to him in a cup (anything possible that you could put a liquid in, I tried)he would just leave it there without touching it.
So let me know if you come up with any suggestions.
Thanks

My daughter has that too! by: Elise Chan
Hi there, My toddler is now turning 3 and she too has this issue. Initially i tried to influence her to drink from the cup directly but sort of "gave up" after a while. I think one reason could be due to the fact that she had been drinking milk since birth and finds comfort in drinking her milk from the bottle instead. The suckling action on the tit of the bottle has a soothing effect i guess. This could be one reason as i was told from another mother.
I believe she should grow out of it soon. I am trying to let her be and observe for a while. You are not alone :)
