Look at it this way, Imagine a mom breast feeding a 4 year old or even a 3 year old. If that bothers you or doesn't look appropriate and your child is at that age than your child should be taken off the bottle.

my happy milk drinking 5 year old by: charlotte
my daughter and some of her friends still have milk in a bottle and they are 5 years old. Today she went with her bottle to her dad's house and i had a phone call from his new partner saying that she 'has a problem' with my daughter having a bottle. My child is comforted by her bottle and is drinking milk which is a good thing, im not a pushy mother and even a nurse at the hospital said it makes no difference to anyone even if she is 10 and still has milk in a bottle, she is happy, confident and doing well at school!!

Drinking from a straw by: Racheal
Hi there, I stopped my 2 year old drinking from her milk bottle recently and gave her one of those sealed cups with a straw. She is now drinking her milk from cup and things are great. I think its up to you child really and if he is ready, try to stop early. I would recommend starting with straws as it can also train you child to properly "suck" from a cup.
