to Netcraft.com (August 2007), there are 60 Million

Total sites. The ranking you see in the Alexa-certified
Traffic Ranking button (certified by Alexa) shows
you where each site ranks in traffic, out of all those
100,000,000+ sites.
A
site that ranks at 1,000,000 (or better) is in the
Top 1% of all sites. However, since Alexa is not perfect,
we eliminate sites that do not actually have sufficiently
great traffic to "support" the Alexa score. In other
words, every Top 1% site shown is truly a Top 1% site,
supported by high traffic.
