One
of the most challenging parts of being a parent
is when we are dealing with our child's behavior.
We all know it when a child behaves in a way that
is not called for. But sometimes, we may be quick
to ignore what causes a child to exhibit a certain
type of behavior in the first place! What should
we do when are faced with a behavior problem from
a child?
Let's
have a quick look at some of the best ways to cope
with most of the problems:
-
Criticize the behavior and NEVER the child! Criticizing
a child will breed poor self-esteem and will eventually
lead to naughty behavior some how.
-
Try not to solve your child's problems. Let him
learn to solve his problem as he grows up. This
does not mean not helping your child when he is
struggling! But let him take responsibility and
learn to do it himself whenever a situation arises.
-
Expect your child to be competent. By doing so,
you will be building his confidence level which
will lay the foundations for his latter years.
-
Never label a child, especially a negative label
which limits his future potential.
- Do NOT give in to a child's bad behavior.
-
Do NOT reward a behavior because it will be repeated
when rewarded.
-
Set clear rules and consistent boundaries for your
child .
-
All children want to be treated specially! Let him
know he is unique because your child deserves it!
