I have caught my 7 year old daughter stealing small things and I have also noticed her lying about things sometimes. She seems very happy and also very giving and shares really good with others. I don't know what to do about her stealing and lying. I do not want it to move onto bigger things. What should I say and do to her? cls
First of all do not cover for her by trying to just sneak it back to the person's home... Huge parenting error...that would teach her it is okay to disrespect other peoples property and to lie about it also. Make her face the person and return item with admission that they stole it and apologize to them.

You should sit your daughter down and have a talk with her. Explain to her how lying and stealing is wrong and if it continues, you will have to punish her, by giving her a spanking on her bare bottom.
