My 2nd grade daughter has started school a week ago and the teacher has a behavior chart in the class that involves colors, green having a great day, yellow is a warning, red is a second warning and miss 5 minutes of recess and blue is a third warning, note sent home that needs signed and returned the next day and a consequence of one recess. If every child in the class is on green they earn 20 points for the day. They earn points through out the day also for good class room behavior in halls, art, gym, p.e., etc. The first two days of school my daughter was on green(not sure if teacher was using behavior colors). This week for the last 4 days, she has been on yellow. I know it is only one warning, but last year they had the same behavior chart and she hardly ever had a green day. Im not sure if I should be disappointed in her for these warnings or just forget about them. The reasons she tells me seem a big ridiculous and some are not. I have tried communicating with her teacher but I havent got a response yet. I am having her hopefully evaluated(pending doctors approval)in a few days. Do you think its too early in the school year to be worried about this? I really want to crack down on this behavior before things get worse. I have tried good behavior charts here at home and reward good behavior instead of concentration on the negative. I have also taken away privileges like tv time, computer time, toys, and have made her write sentences. Nothing seems to be working. Please help, I am running out of ideas!!!
