Eph 6:2, 3. 2 ?Honor your father and [your] mother?; which is the first command with a promise: 3 ?That it may go well with you and you may endure a long time on the earth.? The two of you are not there to hurt him, but to help. If he can't respect that then maybe the best thing for him to do is to be out on his "independant" own. That way he can be his own boss, and pay for the rite to make his own decisions.

For some reason, we parents have such a hard time making our children take responsibility for their own actions/behavior? No matter the age, he needs to take responsibility and pay the price for his words and actions.
Kick him out and leave him out!
