Sorry this is so long. My now 18 year old son came back to live with me april 2010 after being at his fathers for two years. He was suspended from school at his dads and when he came to my place I paid for him to get his high school diploma online. He did great at first, so I got him a phone for a reward. November we started having issues with assignments being submitted and i got all kinds of excuses. One being the computer deleted all the work he was doing, so i made him send the assignments to me. Just after Christmas he just stopped doing the work. I locked the computer and canceled the account for his high school. I wasnt going to pay 150.00 a month for him to do nothing. Next step GET A JOB. He says he is looking but not even a phone call for one interview since December 2010. The end of January he was arrested for public intoxication ( he was still 17 then). Now that he has turned 18 in february we have to go to court for the public intoxication. There have been numerous outburst calling me names blaming me for why he cant do school. I dont know what to do, should i just kick him out? make him be on his own without aplace to live or food? is that alright?

Carrie, you have shown great kindness having helped him get an education. If he wants to he can find work. He prefers lazing around and getting drunk. The best thing you can do now is get him off your neck. Having him stay at your residence and sponging of your kindness will be to no avail. The only thing that may bring him to his senses is when he faces homeless because of his laziness. Anonymous suggested giving him a bare bum treatment, but at his age this is demeaning and all but impossible. Imagine having a fully developped naked 18 year old over your knee. You could well be branded deviant. No get him out of your home now!

So if I understand correctly your son misbehave with the father and he is sent off to you now he is misbehaving with you. And you have to be the bad guy. Someone needs to step up a give this kid some discpline and it looks like to going to be you. One you did the right thing by cutting him off life is not free. were did he get the money to go drinking? He needs to shape up and fast. It would be a good ideal if he could find a job or be enrolled in school before the court date. Have you thought of discipline the fiscial kind I mean he will not listen to your rule How about a old fashion bare bottom spanking that may wake him up and do not be afraid to do it thats will be the new rules if he wants to stay living with you it seems he has no discipline. Both you and you husband have alound him to do what ever he wanted and now it's pay back,If you do not get a handle on it now before it's to late. Can you not see he is crying for attention and its up to you to do something about it before the law discipline him and it would not be with love like you would but maybe thats what he need's.If here stay's with you he has to follow your rules and if he does not his butt gets spanked and spanked hard He has to be in school or working or he can take a chance with the law. And make sure your husband is behind you so that if your son calls him he will stand behind you and say listen to your mother. Good luck
